Remember Those Syrian Refugees?

Just two weeks ago, debate was raging about whether or not the USA should let Syrian refugees who could not be properly vetted into America.  President Obama and the Obamacrats called for admission of hundreds of thousands of refugees and told us how "robust" the vetting process would be.  No terrorists would be able to get in; that is what they assured us all.  Obama even made fun of Republicans who wanted to pause the admission of refugees; according to Obama, these Republicans were "afraid of widows and orphans."

Today, we learned that Tashfeen Malik, one of the terrorists who shot up the conference center in San Bernardino, was a recent immigrant to the USA from Pakistan.  Malik was vetted by the federal government and admitted on a visa.  Malik, however, was a supporter of radical Islamic ideology and a supporter of ISIS.  She came into the country as a "fiancĂ©" and left in a body bag but only after she took part in killing or wounding of over 30 innocent people.

If the feds missed Malik's background during her vetting, why would anyone assume that they would find any terrorists embedded in the flow of refugees from Syria?  That would indeed be a foolish conclusion.  Indeed, if Malik's attack proves anything, it is that Obama was wrong when he said that vetting could stop the entry of terrorists and that he was also wrong for mocking the GOP for worrying about women entering the country as refugees.

It's time that the reliance by the Democrats on ideology rather than reason must end.  Too many innocent lives depend on that happening.
