What Is It With the Swedes?

It was just a few days ago when the Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom called the killings in Israel of terrorists in the act of attacking innocent civilians "extrajudicial executions".  That was crazy talk.  The Israelis like every other country are entitled to kill terrorists in self defense.

Today, the Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Lofven, decided to get into the discussion.  Lofven took the discussion further into the realm of craziness.  Lofven said that attacks by knife wielding terrorists who seek to kill civilians at random including children and the elderly are not terror attacks.  Lofven claimed that there is some sort of international classification system which would not make the knife attacks "terrorism".

Lofven's statement is so bizarre as to leave many people scratching their heads about why he would say something which is not just untrue but also so idiotic.  There is no definition of "terrorism" under which an organized movement of people who attack random civilians with knives and hatchets would be excluded.  The only possible explanation is that for Lofven, it is not terrorism if the targets are Israelis.

The reaction to Lofven's statement was so immediate and so negative that he tried to "explain" what he meant, but he just made things worse.

The actual facts are simple and clear:  Israelis are being attacked by Palestinian terrorists using mainly knives or their cars as weapons.  Many Israelis have been killed or wounded.  The Israelis have acted in self defense against these terrorists, and many of the attackers have been killed.  These are not extrajudicial executions.  They are proper acts of self defense.
