The Fascist Left

Ever since Ronald Reagan first was elected president, there has been a growing effort by the left in this country to paint Republicans as bigots, racists, homophobes, rubes and even fascists.  The story line does not depend on facts; the truth is that for the last 150 years, the party of most racists was the Democrats and not the Republicans.  No, the painting of the GOP as the home of bigoted fascists was a political ploy meant to cement the loyalty of minority voters to the Democrats.  After pushing this storyline for so long, however, the left has created a monster.  Political discourse is now discounted.  Name calling is the new currency for many, especially younger Americans.  The idea that we are all Americans and all in this together is disappearing.  For Republicans, there is no longer any need or desire to listen to those on the left.  Just think how many times America has been told that those who opposed president Obama are just motivated by racism.  That ploy may have been effective in 2008, but by 2010, most people saw it for what it truly is, a sad attempt to stifle dissent or opposition to failed policies.  America has watched Obama become animated only when he is attacking Republicans or their positions.  America has watched Hillary Clinton call Republicans her biggest enemy, even ranking the GOP ahead of ISIS.  As a result, when events like San Bernardino happen and Obama makes a speech, few people really care what he has to say.  Indeed, never one to disappoint, Obama actually gave a speech focused on warning America against anti-Moslem bigotry (as if that is a real problem here) and promoting gun control (as if that had anything to do with San Bernardio).

As the Obama years have passed and the non-stop labeling of the GOP as racist, bigoted, etc has continued, that effort by the left has almost completely broken down.  It is that breakdown that is now causing a hysterical reaction by many on the left.  In the last two days, one of the board members of the ACLU in Colorado was forced to resign after he called on people to tell people not to vote for Trump, but if they refused, to kill them.  It sounds more like an ISIS site than a supposedly liberal one.  Those who still support the global warming theory push for their opponents (so called "deniers") to be prosecuted by the government under the RICO statute.  Those who express any view other than the strict Stalinist-like dogma of the far left on college campuses are shouted down, ostracized, and persecuted by the so called liberals.  Imagine two professors who are hounded into submission for saying something supposedly controversial like telling students not to get to concerned about the political propriety of Halloween costumes.  How about the Black Lives Matter crew who take offense if someone says that all human life matters?  These are examples of the fascist left.  There is only one true dogma according to these leftist thought policemen.  Anyone who disagrees is to be crushed and destroyed.

This is a dangerous move in our society.  It is even worse than you might think because so many people do not even recognize that it is happening.  The media is blind to this for the most part.  Look at the reaction to the ACLU guy calling for Trump supporters to be killed.  There was very little mention of that in the media.  Now imagine if a board member of the America Family Research Council were to call for abortion doctors or Hillary supporters to be killed.  No doubt the media would go berserk.  MSNBC might pre-empt its entire schedule to do a three day special on the comment.

But it is not just the media.  A big portion of those on the left won't even listen to the arguments on the other side.  I know people, committed leftists, who will not enter a room if Fox News is on the TV.  The fear that they might hear something with which they disagree is just too strongly ingrained.  Sadly, this is the product, to a great extent, with the collapse of our universities as places where the free exchange of ideas is promoted rather than prevented.

Our society is at risk here.  We need to break through to those who have adopted this liberal fascist view and to rescue as many of these "cult" members as possible.
