The Foreign Policy Debates

After president Obama's speech/press conference today, one question stands out:  why did Obama even bother?  The man actually said that his most important job is to keep the nation safe.  No one would disagree with that assertion, but few Americans believe that Obama has been doing that "most important" job.  We have a president who seems not to have a clue about how to stop terrorism.  ISIS is still expanding around the world.  Attacks by ISIS have come home to the USA.  Obama's only response is to continue on with the policies that have already failed to work.

The likely Democrat nominee, Hillary Clinton, has already announced that her policy towards terrorism will be more of the same.  Obama has failed, so Hillary will just keep trying the same stuff.

Hillary's only real competition for the nomination, Bernie Sanders, thinks that the way to stop terrorism is to end climate change.  Even for a lunatic, Sanders has crazy ideas.  Just once, I want someone to ask Sanders why it is that climate change seems to drive one segment of the Moslem population into terrorism while the rest of the world remains unaffected.  His head would explode.

On the Republican side, there are diverse views about how to stop the terrorists.  Some ideas are good, some not so much.  Nevertheless, at least the GOP is considering how to stop the terrorists.  The sclerotic Democrats just smile and wave and say "more of the same".
