The Times Square fizzle bombing has resulted in an arrest. Police found the man after learning that he bought the SUV for cash from its previous owner about three weeks ago. he was arrested at the airport while attempting to flee the country to Dubai. He is Faisal Shahzad. The AP identifies him as an American from Connecticut. Later they call him a naturalized American citizen originally from Pakistan. He also has a wife and family in Pakistan. I have now read three different articles about the arrest and find it amazing that not a single on mentions that Shahzad is a Moslem. It is as if there is some moronic creed to which the press subscribes that prohibits mentioning that rather salient fact. The attack was part of extremist Islamic terrorism but we cannot mention this. I guess that in arresting him we will have it called a domestic contingency operation rather than a counter-terrorist operation.
I also note that Shahzad is being arraigned today. His arrest and handling is under the control of the US attorney. No mention has been made of the special interrogation unit that was supposedly formed by the Obamacrats to handle this type of situation. I suppose the unit still does not exist. Will it take hundreds of casualties before Obama acts on this?
We should all be thankful that Shahzad was so incompetent as a bomber. Even so, we cannot assume that the USA will continue to be lucky. Obama needs to step up our readiness to deal with these situations. A good start would be to actually get ready for interrogations. It mught be nice to know if Shahzad was working with anyone else -- as he surely was. Ane it would be very nice to get their names before they get on the plane to Dubai or Tripoli.
