It Seems Like It Really Was Reid Behind The Cattle Ranch Attack

Here is a short article from News 4 television in Reno Nevada today with comments by senator Harry Reid on the confrontation between the federal Bureau of Land Management and a Nevada rancher.

RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Senate majority leader Harry Reid hasn't been very vocal about the cattle battle showdown in recent days, but says "it's not over."

Reid tells News4's Samantha Boatman his take on the so-called cattle battle in southern Las Vegas. "Well, it's not over. We can't have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it's not over," Reid said.

There have been stories in the media that the rancher's land was needed for a large project run by senator Reid's son Rory and in which the senator had a financial interest.  I have repeated those stories on this blog, but have been careful to point out that I can verify none of the facts.  After all, it seemed pretty incredible that the senate majority leader would use the resources of the federal government to throw a rancher off land that his family had called home for the last 150 years.  Now that the confrontation has ended (at least for the moment), I expected that Reid would join Nevada's other senator and the governor in siding with the rancher particularly since the feds had no real reason for grabbing the land at this point.  I mean first the feds said that they were getting rid of the rancher to protect a type of tortoise in the area, but then it was disclosed that the same agency had killed thousands of those tortoises in the last two years.  The whole thing seemed murky to say the least.

Well now we have senator Reid's own comments where he comes down on the side of the feds and against the rancher.  It certainly seems like Reid has his own interest in this matter.  Once again, however, I have to add that I cannot verify any financial interest by Reid or his son.  At this point, however, it is up to Reid to come forward with some proof that he and his son are not involved.
