I was interested to see the total lack of reaction to the announcement by former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg that he would spend at least $50 million dollars trying to defeat candidates who support gun rights and the Second Amendment. For the last two months, there has been a constant refrain from the Democrats about how terrible "big money" is in elections; then they attack the Koch brothers whether or not the Kochs are involved in the issue under discussion. They never complain about the billionaire from Silicon Valley who says he will give 100 million bucks to candidates who want to do something to stop global warming. Now they are silent on Bloomberg's $50 million.
The only way to understand this is to realize that Democrats don't like big political contributions only when they might go to Republicans.
