The Coming Inevitable Change

History is ignored by most people.  Does it really matter what the causes of the First World War were 100 years ago?  Should we really care how the EPA came into being or which president desegregated the military?  Most people could not care less.  There is one lesson of history, however, that everyone needs to know:  THINGS CHANGE; THINGS ALWAYS CHANGE!!!

I was watching a drama the other night on TV that takes place in London in 1914.  It was a glimpse into a completely different world.  All sorts of attitudes were different.  Government strategies were different.  Racial views were different.  Ideas of success were different.  Of course, it was 100 years ago.

It got me thinking, however, about the enormous extent of change over the last 100 years.  I have no experience with the world of 1914, but I do recall the world of 1964.  It was completely different from what I knew of 1914, but it was also completely different from today.  In the last 50 years, everything has changed once again.

Even 15 years ago in 1999 things were extremely different.  There was mostly peace around the world, but this is just one major difference from today.  There is no point cataloguing the changes.

What is important is that we all need to understand that in fifteen years, we may live in a very different world.  That is why we need people with vision who can see forward at least somewhat or at least who can recognize what is actually happening around them.  Ideological blinders do not work.  People who a bewildered by change cannot lead.  People who cannot recognize reality cannot lead.
