The current standoff in between the Bureau of Land Management and a rancher in Nevada is making big news. Tempers are flaring and the possibility of violence is great as the feds capture and cart off all of the cattle of this rancher while preventing supporters of the rancher from entering the area or even demonstrating to show support. The confrontation has seemed bizarre in its timing. There is no reason why the feds should suddenly try to strong arm this rancher and to threaten those who support him. At least there was no apparent reason until now. According to this report, the land where the cattle were grazing is needed as part of a large power plant being built by the Chinese on federal land in the area. Even more important, that power project has involvement by both senator Harry Reid and his son Rory according to the article.
Look, we all know that senator Reid has spent his entire adult life working for the government and that he has somehow managed to amass a fortune of many millions of dollars. If Reid has an interest in this project, then it certainly looks like the federal government is being used to get rid of obstacles that might adversely affect that project. In other words, if what this article says is true, then senator Reid may well have crossed the line here.
Hopefully, the statements in the article and the other relevant facts will be carefully investigated by someone who is impartial and not beholden to Reid. If Reid is innocent of involvement here, then he ought to be exonerated. On the other hand, if Reid is not innocent here, then he should suffer the appropriate consequences.
By the way, don't expect to see much coverage of this issue in the mainstream media. After all, Reid is an important Democrat.
