The Simple Truth

In today's world, the "truth" is something that is often lost.  So much of our day to day existence has become politicized that actual facts are often obscured by rhetoric.  If we as a country are to survive, however, we have to deal with reality.  It is not enough to just say nice things or have good intentions; we have to achieve results that help people and which protect the USA.  Nevertheless, so much of the so called news is phony these days that it is worthwhile on occasion to look at the truth and consider the responsive positions of our leaders.  Here are a few:

1.  The American economy -- according to president Obama, we are in the midst of a five year period of growth which has brought our economy out of recession and moved us into good times.  Here, however, is the actual fact:  as of today, there are still fewer people in the USA with non-farm jobs (137.9 million) than there were before the recession began (138.4 million).  This decline in the number of people with jobs has occurred even though there are an estimated 13 million more people living in the country.  That means that for all the talk of good times coming from Obama, he is not telling us the truth.  The response from the Obamacrats is that people who raise facts like these are racist.

2.  The need for higher taxes -- according to president Obama, Americans are not taxed enough.  Here are the actual facts:  Obama has pushed through a large number of tax increases since taking office.  The net effect of these has been to increase the annual tax revenue of the federal government by 40% since Obama took office.  This is a huge increase, particularly since inflation has been roughly 8% during that same time period.  Despite this huge tax increase, Obama has also pushed federal spending up by about 150 billion dollars more than the total tax increase.  This means that for every new tax dollar Obama squeezed out of the American public, he spent about $1.20 more.  Even worse, almost all of the spending increase came during the first two years of Obama's term in office when the Democrats controlled all of Congress; since 2011, the Republicans have kept federal spending from ballooning further beyond the revenues available to pay for it.  The response from the Obamacrats is that people who raise facts like these are racist.

3.  The need to cover Americans who lack health insurance --  when Obama took office in 2009, there were an estimated 47 million uninsured Americans.  These were the people who, according to Obama, were one illness away from bankruptcy.  Obama pushed Obamacare through Congress despite the clear opposition to the law by a majority of the American people.  Now we are at the point where Obamacare has gone into effect.  The estimate is that Obamacare will cost the USA over $2 trillion during the next ten years.  Right now, the best estimate is that the number of people in America without insurance has remained roughly the same as was the case prior to the passage of the law.  The response from the Obamacrats is that people who raise facts like these are racist.

Remember the truth!
