I made the mistake tonight of turning on CNN. I know it is hard to believe, but CNN was still covering the disappearance of the Malaysian airliner that was lost six weeks ago. SIX WEEKS AGO. The total known about what has happened might be able to fill a ten minute report if every last detail were repeated, but six weeks have gone by and CNN is still doing major coverage of that event.
I did go back to CNN four more times this evening just to see how much coverage there was of the missing plane. They were random visits, but during two of the four times I switched to CNN, they were covering the Malaysian airliner. The other two times, they were covering the sinking of the ferry that happened a few days ago.
The entire episode is surreal. How can a cable network that supposedly covers the news keep talking about a plane that disappeared a month and a half ago even though there is nothing new to say about it?
