The latest from the Ukraine is that shooting between Ukrainian troops and the men who have seized various government buildings in an around the city of Slovyansk. No one seems to know what is really happening there. The news reports are confused to say the least. Is this the start of a major battle that will draw the Russian troops into the fighting? There are tens of thousands of these Russian troops about 100 miles away in Russian territory. Many people believe that the men who seized the buildings in Slovyansk were actually Russian military themselves. If this is really fighting between the Ukrainian army and the Russian army, there could be massive bloodshed.
It is a terrible thing that we have come to this day. I just wish that our government had taken steps to head this off years ago. Right now it is too late for the USA to do anything to prevent the fighting. Had there been someone as president or secretary of state with the intelligence, insight or even desire to deal with reality rather than ideology, there were things that could have happened in the past to prevent this.
