There Must Be Nervous Breakdowns

I happened to watch an episode of NOVA on PBS the other night.  The show was about one aspect of  the intelligence of certain animals and how they use their senses to perceive their surroundings.  The show got me wondering how many viewers were having palpitations or a nervous breakdown while watching.  The problem, you see, was not the subject of the NOVA episode.  I doubt that many people would get too emotional about whether or not sharks can sense magnetic fields (apparently, they can).  No, the problem arose at the very start of the show when PBS thanks those whose contributions made the show possible.  The first contributor to be thanked (and the largest contributor) was the David Koch foundation.  Imagine that!  One of the Koch brothers, the current villain of every progressive in the country, had funded most of NOVA on PBS.  HOW CAN THAT BE????????  As a progressive, these folks are required to hate the Koch brothers and to love the offerings on PBS.  It was just an impossible situation for the average true blue liberal.  I bet a lot of them actually passed out as their brains melted as the truth dawned on them.

For those of you who think I am kidding, you need to consider this:  within the last few months, there has been a major series of protests in New York City because the Koch brothers made a gift of one hundred million dollars to New York-Presbyterian Hospital for use in cancer treatment and research.  The liberal protesters wanted the gift rejected.  The protesters wanted the hospital to make a political statement rather than working towards a cure for cancer.  The protesters wanted there to be reduced cancer treatment in New York City rather than letting the Koch brothers fund that treatment.  In short, the protesters were completely nuts.
