So here's today's big surprise: Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the House, says he's voting for Donald Trump.
Sorry, I'm trying to stifle a yawn.
This is not news. It was the inevitable outcome. Only a complete fool or the mainstream media would think that anything else would have happened. Actually, since most of the media consists of fools, I was being redundant.
No doubt, we could go back and read article after article posted in the media about how "experts" thought that Ryan was wise to delay his endorsement. No, that's wrong. Ryan made a mistake. By waiting to endorse Trump, Ryan made himself look like a stooge of the establishment. Now as Speaker, Ryan is part of that establishment, but he could have differentiated himself from the Bushes and the lobbyists and the consultants in DC. Instead, he pulled a move that now looks more like a temper tantrum than a sagacious move.
And remember, I like Ryan. Actually, I would put that in the past tense. I liked Ryan. A year ago, I was still hoping he would run for president.
