Here is what president Obama said in Sweden at a press conference earlier today as reported by McClatchy:
Obama said the “red line” he set against a year ago against Syria’s use of chemical weapons isn’t his, but an international standard. “I didn’t set a red line, the world set a red line,” Obama said. “My credibility’s not on the line. The international community’s credibility is on the line. And America and Congress’s credibility’s on the line."
Why can't we have a president who at least has the instinct that telling the truth is the best course of action. I understand that there are times where the head of our government has to stray from the truth; I get it. There are national secrets which cannot be exposed. There are times when exaggeration has to be used to make a point. Nevertheless, in general, the president of the United States of America ought to be thought of as a truthful person. On that score, Obama is a total failure.
This morning, Obama stood before the world press in Europe and just plain lied. He did not set a red line was his claim. Is he kidding? How many times have we all seen the video of Obama setting that very same red line on multiple occasions during the last year? But now the great and powerful Obama tells us to pay no attention to the man behind the curtain and we are just supposed to accept his nonsense. We all know the truth. Even worse, the whole world knows the truth. Our president, the supposed leader of the free world, just exposes the fact that he is some sort of pathological liar.
Then, to top off this mess, Obama has the gall to announce that it is the Congress, our country and the international community whose credibility is on the line. Obama sets the red line, not Congress, the USA or the international community. Assad crosses the red line that Obama sets. Then, we are to believe that if there are no consequences, it is the fault of Congress, the country and the international community. Really? Is he kidding?
