Not Again

One day after the killings at the Washington Navy Yard, the next barrage is already beginning.  I am speaking about the calls for gun control measures that have sprouted up like weeds after a rainstorm.

We need to focus on these gun related issues and dispose of them quickly.  Here is what you need to know:

1.  The shooting at the Navy Yard would not have been prevented or even changed in any way had the proposed gun legislation been passed earlier this year rather than being killed by the Democrat controlled Senate.  The shooter used a legally obtained shotgun, and he passed a full background check prior to purchasing it.

2.  All of the other weapons used yesterday were obtained by the gunman by first shooting police/security people and taking their weapons.  Nearly all the killings were done with pistols.

3.  Contrary to initial faulty reporting, no AR-15 or other of the so called assault weapons were used by the killer.

4.  Nothing, short of a ban on all guns which is clearly unconstitutional, would have had any chance to stop the murders.
