April Fools

I came across a column written by climate activist Bill McKibben on MSNBC today in which the author advocates for climate scientists to take to the streets to protest inaction on global warming.  I was not sure if it was some sort of bizarre April fools' joke.  After all, much of what MSNBC seems like pure nonsense, and McKibben is not exactly someone who seems to perceive reality all that well.  But no, it was not a joke.  Instead, it was a "call to arms" for the supporters of global warming.  It was a call for supposed scientists to ignore science and push, instead, for some sort of political uprising.

The truth is that the entire matter of climate change is just sad.  Here we have all these people who claim to be scientists but who want to take action when the theories they support are being shown to be faulty on more and more fronts.  Simply put, none of the explanations offered by the global warming crowd actually work to explain why the temperature of the Earth has not risen over the last 15 years even though carbon dioxide was pouring into the atmosphere at accelerated rates.  None of the explanations offered by the global warming crowd actually work to explain why in the years between 1900 and 1940 there was warming roughly equal to that of the last 40 years even though the problem with greenhouse gases only existed in the second period.  (Could it be something else at work other than the greenhouse gases?)  None of the explanations offered by the global warming crowd work to explain why the best data indicates that the Earth is cooler now than it has been for most of the last 10,000 years despite all the greenhouse gases that they worry about.  Dealing with those issues would require actual science to be employed.  You know, there would have to be theories that get proven or disproven by the data, something that the global warming crowd stopped caring about more than a decade ago.
