This morning I happened to hear CBS News on my car radio. The reporters were going on at length about a Long Island senior who was accepted at all eight Ivy League universities. There was also coverage about the end (or sort of end) of the enrollment period for Obamacare and speculation as to whether or not the law met its goals (they admitted that they had no information to report on that subject). All I could think about while listening to these stories was to wonder if there was just no news today. There was no mention of the artillery battle in the waters off Korea. There was no mention about the possible explosion by the North Koreans of another nuclear bomb. There was no mention about the Russian troops on the borders of Ukraine. There was no mention about the supposed deadline today in the Israeli-Palestinian talks. There was no mention about our stagnant economy. There was no mention of the reduction in American military spending and the concomitant threat to our national security.
Congrats to that senior on Long Island, but really, who cares?
