Americans' free speech rights are under assault on college campuses. That is a widespread phenomenon. Something new, however, is the move to bring back segregated housing at colleges. Imagine that public universities are rolling out separate residences for African Americans on campus. Actually, you don't need to imagine it. These separate, but equal, residential options are available at Cal State LA, University of Connecticut, University of California at Davis and University of California at Berkeley. These segregated living quarters are not the result of some resurgence by the KKK or similar group. Instead, the segregation is in response to demands by Black Lives Matters and similar groups. After millions of people of all races fought for years finally to end segregation, Black Lives Matter has demanded that it be brought back.
I'm not going to go into the reasoning offered by BLM activists for blacks only housing. It doesn't matter; such housing is wrong. Nor is it worth discussing that the residences are technically not segregated; any student can supposedly live there but it is clear that only blacks will be accepted.
I hope that someone brings suit to end this nonsense quickly. No college should offer segregated housing no matter what the reason.
