An Internet Poll That Actually Means Something

There are all sorts of one-question polls conducted on the internet that mean nothing.  First of all, the responses come only from people who happen to see the question.  Second, not all people respond.  Those two facts make it impossible to get a representative sample.  I just came across one of these polls, however, that actually means something.  The question was simple:  who will you vote for in the 2020 Republican primaries?  It offered four choices:  Donald Trump, Mitt Romney, William Weld and Someone else.  There had been 6000 people who answered the question.  Since the poll was on Twitter, this means that 6000 different people had responded, so it wasn't just a few people voting repeatedly.

The results as of now had the President with 98% support and Someone else with 2%.  Neither Weld nor Romney had gotten even 1% of the vote; they were both listed at 0%.

Given the silly stories about Republican challenges to Trump in 2020, this poll should put that possibility to rest.  It won't happen.  There just isn't enough people (or maybe any people) in the GOP who are planning to vote against Trump.
