When The Democrats Follow Obvious Lies

The House Judiciary committee voted today to seek a citation for Attorney General Barr's failure to turn over the full unredacted Mueller Report and all the background materials.  Every Democrat voted for this measure and every Republican opposed it.  The problem though is that the vote is based upon obvious lies.

The simple truth -- with which everyone agrees -- is that Barr cannot legally turn over the unredacted report without violating the law.  At a minimum, federal judge would first have to approve of the turnover of grand jury testimony before Barr could possibly comply.  The House committee could go to court to seek such approval, but it chose not to do so.  So today's vote actually recommended that Barr be held in contempt for following the law.  That's the worst legal reasoning ever, even in Washington.

On top of the need for court approval (which the House could seek), President Trump today asserted a claim of executive privilege over the unredacted report.  Before the Mueller Report could be produced, the House would have to go to court and seek a decision overturning that claim by the White House.  Again, Barr cannot turn over the report after the claim of executive privilege has been asserted.

So the Dems actually voted to seek a contempt citation against Barr because he followed the law.  What's next?  Will the Dems seek to indict Barr for murder?  How about money laundering.  Barr didn't do anything that could be the basis for murder or money laundering.  So what?  If the Dems can seek to hold Barr in contempt for following the law regarding the Mueller Report, they might as well seek to have him arrested for following the law regarding murder and money laundering.  We already had a two year investigation into a "crime" which president Trump did not commit and for which there has never been any evidence.  Why not watch the Dems seek to arrest Barr for the outrage of following the law.
