Forty years ago, CBS Evening News always ended with Walter Cronkite saying, "and that's the way it is." Today, with Fake News in the media and lies screaming across social media, it might be more appropriate to end most discussions of the news by saying, "and that's the way it isn't."
I was reminded of this by the comments sent on Twitter by congressman Rashida Tlaib, a Michigan Democrat. She was commenting on a headline in the NY Times that reported that Palestinians in Gaza had launched hundreds of missiles towards Israel and the Israelis had responded. Tlaib began by saying, "When will the world stop dehumanizing our Palestinian people who just want to be free?"
Get that? According to this congressman, it's dehumanizing Hamas and the other Gaza terror groups if you report that they launched hundreds of missiles at Israel. This sort of denial is a common tactic among leftist groups. If Antifa thugs physically attack a group of peaceful demonstrators, it's politically incorrect to call out the Antifa thugs for the mindless bullies that they are. Nope, we're supposed to accept violence from leftist thugs directed against any group with whom they disagree, just because they are leftists. Similarly, if an African American group like Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam attack "white devils" or "Jewish termites", that's cannot be called racist because those speaking are black. Or when someone like congressman Ilhan Omar (democrat of Minnesota) says that the violence in Venezuela the other day was caused by the USA and the Trump administration even though the confrontation in Venezuela has been building up for the last 15 years, we're not supposed to call Omar an anti-American moron because she's an Islamic woman of color.
Sorry, but I don't accept any of this nonsense. People don't get the right to say or do whatever they want without suffering the consequences of those actions and statements. That includes having to deal with those who point out the truth to these morons.
Rashida Tlaib may not like seeing the truth printed in news reports about the attack launched by the terror groups in Gaza. I get that; such news reports are not going to help the Palestinian cause (which seems more important to Tlaib than any American issue.) But it doesn't matter. There's no way to bury the news that Palestinian terrorists are launching hundreds and hundreds more rockets at random targets in Israel so as to spread maximum terror. No one gets the right to do that. Certainly, no one gets the right to anonymity after perpetrating such an event.
Rashida Tlaib deserves to be called out for her support for terrorism. There's no escaping that. Let's hope that in 2020, the people of her district throw her out.
