Let's think for a moment about what is happening in the world.
1. Weapons of mass destruction are being used by the Assad regime in Syria on its own people. Hundreds or thousands are dead despite president Obama's announcement that this is a red line for America.
2. Egypt remains on the edge of further explosions. The Moslem Brotherhood is quiet for now, but the impending court ordered release of former dictator Hosni Mubarak will probably be used to whip up another frenzy of rioting. American relations with both the military and the Moslem Brotherhood are getting worse and are approaching abysmal.
3. The Gallup organization released unemployment data that indicates a sharp jump in unemployment and underemployment during the last thirty days.
4. The implementation of Obamacare seems to be breaking down on all fronts. At the moment, the federal government has missed about twenty separate deadlines set by the law while meeting just over half that amount.
5. The GDP has been growing at a rate of about 1.5% this year, a paltry figure that is just above a recession. No sustained uptick in economic growth is evident in the current statistics, although there are a few areas that seem to be improving.
6. September 11th is approaching, and we still do not have in custody any of the perpetrators of the terrorist killings in Benghazi last year on that date. We know where these thugs are; they have been interviewed on TV, but we just have not arrested them. Similarly, we still do not know where president Obama was during the eight hour attack or who it was who directed the troops leaving Tripoli for Benghazi on a rescue mission to stand down.
7. Week after week, we find out that the story about exactly what types of data the NSA is reviewing and storing on American citizens keeps changing. Each week we learn that more data is regularly grabbed by the NSA. Each week we learn that more of what is taken by NSA gets "reviewed" by that agency. Each week we learn that the supposed court supervision of the NSA is less and less real and effective.
8. It has been half a year since America learned that the IRS was intentionally persecuting conservative organizations and individuals as well as Christian, Jewish and pro-life organizations like the Billy Graham Ministry. Despite an initial promise to get to the bottom of the story, Obama has told us nothing. Now, he has take to calling this a "phony" scandal. Meanwhile, investigators from Congress have shown that the entire targeting enterprise was run by Obama's appointee at the IRS and that confidential taxpayer information was given to the co-chair of the Obama re-election committee.
9. There is a lot more going on, none of it good.
So what is president Obama going to do about all this? The answer is simple: he is going on another campaign swing, this time a bus tour of Pennsylvania and New York. Last week Obama was on vacation. This week, one would expect that he would actually stay in Washington and do some work. NOPE! He is off on another campaign tour. Unbelievable!
