For the second time in a few weeks, an insurance company has dropped out of offering health insurance here in Connecticut through the Obamacare exchanges. This time it was Aetna that pulled out because the state regulators were requiring the rates to be charged to too low. As of now, there are still three companies that will offer policies on the exchange, but they may pull out too.
Aetna is a major presence in Connecticut. For that company to be driven off the exchange due to pressure from state regulators is crazy. It will be quite interesting to see what happens with the other three companies. Who knows, maybe the end result of Obamacare is that no individual policies will be offered on the exchanges here. It will be another of the great moments of Obamacare. I keep waiting for something, anything good to come from this law, but I think it's going to be a long, long wait.
