For the last eleven months, one of the most important unanswered questions about the terror attack on the American embassy in Benghazi, Libya was who ordered our forces to "stand down" instead of going to the assistance of the men and women taking heavy fire from al Qaeda. Somehow, the Obama White House would never give out that information or even respond to questions about that. Those who testified before Congress also sidestepped the question and America never got to know the answer. And it is not a minor question. Instead of operating on the basis that America does not leave its people behind, the Obama administration took the position that it would not even bother to try to help.
Today, there are quite a number of news reports saying that on the evening of September 11th of 2012, it was White House aide Valerie Jarrett who told the Secretary of Defense that there was no authorization for a rescue or assistance mission. So far, the White House has not denied these reports. Let's be clear what this means: Valerie Jarrett may be a good friend of both the president and the first lady, but she does not have the authority to make a decision like that. Only the president can order that sort of mission. Until now, there has always been the possibility that someone made a tactical decision at a lower level to keep troops at a particular location and to hold up the mission to Benghazi. If it is true, however, that Jarrett conveyed to the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs that they were not authorized to send a rescue mission, then that could come only from Obama. The decision to leave the brave Americans under fire in Benghazi just twisting slowly in the wind was made at the top. It was a cowardly and inexplicable decision from Obama. It is no wonder that Obama and his toadies like Susan Rice did all they could to mislead the American people as to what actually happened in Benghazi.
The truth is that Benghazi is not a phony scandal the way Obama claims. Benghazi is a scandal about a phony, namely Barack Hussein Obama.
