Memo to Washington: Time to Get Ready

Last year on September 11th, the US suffered a terrorist attack on the embassy in Benghazi that left four Americans including the ambassador dead.  Recently, there has been a terror "threat" centered in the Middle East.  Hopefully, the Obama administration realizes that we are getting close again to September 11, 2013.  This year, on top of the 9-11 anniversary, we also have the Jewish High Holy Days.  The Israeli government just warned its citizens to stay away from certain countries and further stated that al Qaeda seems bent on a major attack on Jewish targets during the period from September 4 to the 14th (the dates commence with the Jewish new year on Rosh Hashanah and end with the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur.)

These facts certainly should result in a higher state of alert for American forces and also for Homeland Security.  Indeed, one target that needs to be protected consists of the various Jewish synagogues where there will be hundreds gathered for services on these upcoming holidays.  Obviously, we need to be on alert across the entire country.  While terror activity abroad is far more likely than here in the USA, we cannot let down our guard.  That means that if anyone sees anything that seems strange, they have to report this to the authorities.

Let's hope that for once, president Obama actually does his job and gets ready for this threat.
