We Don't Spy On Americans!

Last night president Obama appeared on the Tonight Show.  The conversation with Jay Leno turned to the NSA, Snowden and all the rest of the scandal and Obama announced in his usual way that "we don't spy on Americans."  Really?

Let's see.

1.  It has been admitted that the government collects the so called "meta data" about the phone calls made by Americans.  That means that the feds have every number that you call or that calls you, the date when the calls were made, the time of the calls, the length of the calls, and where you were when you made that call.  Let's stop there.  That sure is snooping.  Suppose there is an opponent of Obama's who happens to make late night calls to a woman who is not his wife or a man who is not her husband.  That information could be used to get the opponent to back off.  And don't tell me that the feds wouldn't use the information that way.  Remember, the IRS has to keep tax information confidential and we all know now that it hasn't done that.  Just ask Lois Lerner.

2.  It has been disclosed that the government collects details and results of internet usage like email, documents created, web searches, sites visited and the like.  Once again, that is spying.  Indeed, put this together with the phone data, and you can get a very good idea of the life of many Americans.

3.  We also have been told that the feds collect data from the various toll facilities on highways.  In the Northeast, that would be EZ-Pass.  That is yet another way for the feds to keep track of where your car and you are.  Spying!

There's more, but this is enough.  Obama should be ashamed to go on TV and tell America that the feds are not spying on us.  He isn't though.  Once again, we have to realize that this man is "truth-challenged."
