The True Nature of the Moslem Brotherhood

If one were to listen to president Obama or John Kerry in recent days, you would get the impression that the Moslem Brotherhood in Egypt are the victims of an evil military that is repressing these poor people and denying them their basic freedoms.  Two news stories, however, should make clear to you that Obama's view of the Brotherhood is completely wrong.  They are neither innocent nor victims.

The first news report tells how on the day that the military ousted former president Morsi of Egypt, the Moslem Brotherhood went through certain neighborhoods in the Cairo vicinity and marked churches and Christian homes and businesses with red spray paint.  Less than two weeks later, when clashes broke out in Cairo, mobs organized by the Moslem Brotherhood went back to the places marked with the red paint and looted and destroyed them.  The second news report tells how nuns from a Cairo convent were taken prisoner and then marched through the streets of Cairo by the Moslem Brotherhood as "prisoners of war".  The report also says that the nuns were molested, but that part of the report seems based upon third hand knowledge, so perhaps we ought to wait for more information before laying that conduct at the feet of the Brotherhood.

In Germany before World War II, and in much of Europe after the Nazi conquest, the idea of singling out property owned by one religious group for looting and destruction was commonplace.  So too, the idea of taking "prisoner" of one religious group simply because of their religious beliefs was another act common for the Nazis.  Now, the same horror is happening in Egypt.  The genocidal conduct of the Moslem Brotherhood is reprehensible.  It deserves to be loudly condemned by every civilized nation on Earth.  That means that Obama should be taking a break from his vacation on Martha's Vineyard to condemn these actions by the Moslem Brotherhood.  Instead, Obama seems only to talk about the Egyptian military.

Can America really just sit by an watch as Christians in Egypt are killed or taken prisoner just because of their religious beliefs?  One thing is certain to me.  No recent president of the USA would just ignore this conduct.  The silence of president Obama is astounding.  He has nothing to say?  Is he worried that he might offend the Moslem terrorists?  What a travesty!
