Yemen announced this morning that it had foiled a major terror plot to take over two cities as well as oil export facilities and pipelines around that country. Was this the major terror plot that al Qaeda was talking about in the recent chatter? If this is a real plot, it would seem likely that the Yemenis have dealt a crushing blow to al Qaeda. It would also seem that America has been made to look foolish by running to get people out of the area and closing our embassies. Last night, reports from Sana in Yemen said that the government there was furious at the USA for pulling its people from the country. The government felt that the hasty withdrawal made Yemen look helpless to deal with al Qaeda.
It seems that they have a point, given that they busted up this terror plot. Of course, the American media will probably concentrate on more news about Anthony Weiner or, perhaps, on the baseball drug use. My guess is that most Americans will not even know much of what happened in the Middle East over the last week.
