More Data Details

After last week's report on how many people had signed up for insurance on the exchanges as of the end of October, we are now getting piecemeal updates from the government as we move forward.  According to the AP, the federal government is now reporting that in Pennsylvania, there have been 2200 people who have selected an insurance plan during the first six weeks that the exchanges have been live.  To be clear, selecting an insurance plan does not mean purchasing an insurance plan.  Only some of those who selected a plan actually bought the plan, so the number who got insurance is fewer even than the 2200 in question.

To put this in context, there were an estimated 1.3 million people in the Keystone State without insurance when the exchange went live.  Six weeks later, we know that over 200,000 policies have been cancelled and 2200 were selected if not purchased.  Obamacare has not reduced the number of uninsured by even one person.  Quite the contrary, Obamacare has increased the number of uninsured in Pennsylvania.
