Never Let a Crisis Go To Waste

Remember when we kept hearing how president Obama and his people were saying "Never let a crisis go to waste"?  It was in the early days of Obama's first term at a time when Obama and his party were pushing through the biggest increase in federal spending in history and even directing much of the new spending towards their friends and allies.  Well, we now have a crisis, but it seems that the results are reversed.  Here is the trend of the last six polls in the generic congressional ballot from Rasmussen.  I use six polls from the same polling firm because that means that the methodology is consistent and the results should show a clearer trend than if we use polls from multiple organizations.  Since the beginning of the partial government shutdown, the lead held by the Democrats over the Republicans has been, in sequence, 7, 7, 6, 6, 2 and -1.  That's right, the GOP is now in the lead due to the Obamacare debacle.

Today we are hearing that the White House is flailing around with the website fix.  The latest plan is to show policies on the site but then to tell people that if they want to buy those policies they will have to contact the insurance company directly.  In other words, the fix to the website will be to take most of it down.  The problem, of course, is that if the policies are sold directly to consumers by the companies, the buyers are not legally allowed to get subsidies.  If Obama tries to pay out the subsidies in violation of the law, there will surely come a time in the next few months when a court rules that act illegal and millions of folks will be faced with policies with higher premiums for which they will no longer get subsidies.  On top of that will be the question of whether or not these people will have to return the subsidies previously received.  What a mess.

It seems that Obama and the Obamacrats created the crisis and are now making it worse.
