A friend of mine pointed out the TV ratings from Thursday which were eye opening. To be specific, I am talking about the ratings for cable news shows. The most amazing thing was that CNN's new Crossfire show had so few viewers that it seems to be down only to friends and family of the cast. Seriously, the Fox evening newscast, Special Report literally had ten times more viewers than Crossfire. Now it certainly is not surprising that FNC is outdrawing CNN; that has been going on for years. The ten to one ratio in the audience is, however, something new and different. CNN is getting ratings so low that it cannot last.
Right after looking at the ratings, I read that MSNBC just suspended the Alec Baldwin show for two weeks. Supposedly, Baldwin was suspended because of offensive remarks he made to photographers and reporters who were trying to interview him on the street. I actually doubt if that is the real reason. Baldwin's ratings at MSNBC have been dismal to say the least. My guess is that Baldwin's "suspension" will grow into a permanent parting of the ways between NBC and Baldwin.
