A Funny Yet Sad Example of Media Bias

Margaret Carlson is one of those peripheral media people who have been around for what seems like forever.  She is a reliable voice for the liberal hacks who make up much of the pundit class.  Today, she has a column at Bloomberg News in which she discusses how the Republicans will "ignore" half of what Pope Francis has to say in Washington.  Her focus is on Marco Rubio who has the special problem of being Catholic as well as a Republican presidential candidate.  Not surprisingly, Carlson points out that many Republicans do not agree with the pope's position on global warming.  Rubio himself does not agree, but Rubio also makes clear that global warming is hardly a religious matter, so the pope's opinion is merely that of one man and not a matter of Catholic dogma.

All of this is fine, but the obvious missing part is that Democrats will "ignore" half of what Pope Francis has to say in Washington.  Democrats will ignore the pope's teachings on the sin of abortion and the Church's opposition to same sex marriage.  We have a visit from the pope and we have both parties picking what they want from his message and ignoring the rest.  But for Carlson, only the Republicans are discussed.  It's a funny yet sad example of standard media bias.

To be fair, it is exactly what one would expect from Carlson, but that doesn't make it acceptable.
