Jeremy Corbyn is the likely winner of the race to become the leader of the British Labour Party. Most likely it will be close to five years before the next British parliamentary elections since the Tories have a commanding majority, but when those next elections come around, it will be Corbyn leading the opposition. These are facts. What is not factual, however, is the media description of Corbyn as a "Political Star" (which is how the AP describes him.) The amazing thing is that Corbyn who is a troglodyte socialist has caught the attention of the usual leftists in the media. Corbyn leads the four way battle for Labour Party leader, but when he is put up against prime minister David Cameron, Corbyn goes down to defeat by what would be an historic margin. In other words, there are enough old style leftists for Corbyn to win in the Labour race, but when all voters are polled, Corbyn seems likely to lead Labout to a disastrous defeat.
It's really not surprising to see these poll numbers. After Margaret Thatcher revitalized both the Conservatives and the UK economy, the Labour Party only got back into power by moving towards the center and away from the old line socialist dogma. Corbyn's trip back towards the ideas that failed in the past has minimal attraction in the UK.
So why is Corbyn a political star according to the news reports? It's just the inherent bias of the media. Nothing more, and nothing less.
