Watching a Slow Motion Disaster

Russia is now shipping tanks into Syria.  These are not for use by the Assad regime.  The tanks are intended to be used by the thousand plus Russian troops who have been landed so far in Syria.  The Russian force is being joined also by an Iranian force.  Those two armies will rescue Assad from his looming defeat by the Sunni Moslem rebels.  Indeed, the new Russian and Iranian forces are intended to wipe out the last non-terrorist resistance to Assad.  At that point, the choice for the world will be to see ISIS and its crazies win or alternatively to see Assad and his allies the Hezbollah terrorist crazies win.  Either way, it will be a long term disaster in Syria and elsewhere in the region.

A response from Washington is needed, but it is unlikely to be forthcoming soon if at all.

Too bad we have Obama rather than an actual president.
