The biggest story of the last few days is one that hasn't gotten the response it merits. It is the news that the American intelligence reports on ISIS were altered by the Obama administration to make things look better than they actually are. We already know that president Obama and his people don't mind telling lies about things. We all remember "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor." Today we have "The only alternative to the agreement with Iran is war." There have been countless others. Even the main Democrat candidate to replace Obama regularly uses the tactic of dishonesty. ("I never sent or received classified information on my email.") For the most part, however, the lies by Obama and others have been part of political arguments. The current story is the first time that we are being told that intelligence reports are being altered to make Obama look good.
Think about this. Intelligence about terrorists or other adversaries is critical, and it is essential that the reports be correct. Remember all those intelligence reports about the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? We went to war based on faulty intelligence. President Bush was castigated for relying on that bad intelligence and many Democrats claimed (without any basis) that Bush had forced the intelligence to be changed to support his desire to go to war with Iraq. Now we are being told that the intelligence agencies are being forced to change their reports to fit the needs of president Obama with regard to military action in Iraq. There ought to be outrage of monumental proportions from those same Democrats who went berserk over Bush. Instead, there is just silence.
This is not a minor problem. Anyone who is identified as part of the group forcing phony intelligence reports to be written ought to be ousted from the government immediately.
