There They Go Again

Dartmouth hired a new head for its Native American programs.  The woman, a professor named Reed, was touted by the university as a member of the Delaware tribe.  It seems, however, that the evidence indicates that she's not.  Her true tribe seems to be as one of the Dolezal-Warren tribe, the tribe of white women who claim to be African American or Native American in order to advance their careers.  Both the Delaware tribe and the students at Dartmouth have expressed upset at this development.  The best part of the matter, however, is the response from Dartmouth.  First it makes a big deal out of hiring a Native American to head this program.  Then, when professor Reed's bona fides are challenged, Dartmouth issues a statement saying that it would have been illegal to consider her ethnic background in hiring.  For an Ivy League school, they're pretty dumb.

One last note:  Dartmouth is in New Hampshire.  That means someone may ask one or another of the presidential candidates what they think of this.  Given the upset at that question to Trump about Obama being a Muslim, I suggest that each candidate in both parties make sure to point out that professor Reed isn't really a Native American before answering the question.
