The latest report puts the death toll in the stampede in Saudi Arabia at the hadj at 717. Think about that. Over seven hundred people are dead because Moslem pilgrims on the hadj in Mecca trampled them to death. It is almost incomprehensible. How many thousands of people must have run over and stepped on those who have died? What could possibly cause such a catastrophe?
Before we answer that question, let's add in the events of last week in Mecca. A sudden storm blew up, a construction crane was hit by lightning, and the storm toppled that crane to crash upon the Grand Mosque of Mecca, home of the Kaaba, the most sacred spot in the world for Moslems. This event killed over twenty people.
Are these two tragic coincidences that just "happened"? Are they signs of Divine displeasure with the course of Islam? Is this God telling us that the murderers and thugs who have hijacked Islam and turned it into a religion of death by bombings and beheadings must be stopped? If so, what will come next?
