The Angry Nasty Hysterical Bunch

I've been watching the coverage of the selection of a new Speaker of the House, and it's amazing just how far from reality much of it is.

First of all, there's all this innuendo about how Kevin McCarthy supposedly dropped out of the race because he is having an affair.  This is a bogus charge.  If you read some of the far left media like Vox, you would be told that the day before McCarthy withdrew, word of the affair leaked out and McCarthy dropped out in panic.  The problem with that narrative is that the supposed affair has been out in the public for a long time.  The day that John Boehner announced he was leaving, I saw at least two attack pieces on McCarthy that spoke of rumors of the affair and how they would prevent him from running for Speaker.  Those rumors were looked into and rejected as false, and they faded into the background.  Then McCarthy dropped out when it became clear to him that he could not win.  What does the far left media do?  They decide to bring back the rumors and name it as the cause of McCarthy's move.  In that way, he is not doing the right thing; rather, he is being forced out for misbehavior.  It's funny, in a way.  The same media that promoted this false story was silent during the 2004 election when John Edwards was the candidate for vice president and the National Enquirer disclosed Edward's affair with a campaign staffer.  The Enquirer had pictures of Edwards sneaking out of the staffer's room late at night.  Proof of an affair by the candidate for VP was not news for these vultures, but a rumor with no proof is a big deal when the target is a Republican.

Second, the same libs in the media portray events in the House as "chaos", "crisis", "disaster" and the like.  Why not call it what it actually is:  "democracy".  The Republicans in the House have to pick a new Speaker.  That means that they have to vote, and if there is not yet someone with the necessary votes, then the race continues.  In many ways, this story line in the media is like the coverage of the 2016 presidential election.  Republicans have many good candidates who are discussing issues and their differing approaches to them.  Then the party's voters will choose who they want.  For the media, this is reported as terrible internal battles and schisms and problems.  The Democrats, however, thought that they were going to have a coronation of Queen Hillary as their nominee.  Instead, they got a battle as Hillary continues to sag in the polls due to her inability to be honest.  She doesn't really discuss issues except for changing her positions to mirror those of Bernie Sanders.  Hillary and Bernie now supposedly agree on essentially everything although no sane person would believe Hillary about her current views.  They would change the moment Sanders is out of the race.  Hillary's real problem, though, is that she is under serious criminal investigation by the FBI.  As more and more information comes out about her conduct, it is seeming more and more likely that she will be indicted.  For the same section of the media, however, this investigation is actually just a Republican political witchhunt even though the FBI is under the control of president Obama and not the Republicans.

The most amazing thing about these media people, however, is that they actually believe much of what they are writing.  Reality does not seem to matter to them.  They are an angry, nasty, hysterical bunch.
