It's going to be interesting to see how the third GOP debate plays out tonight. There are some things that we know for sure:
1. Because the debate will be on CNBC up against the World Series, the audience will be smaller than the number of people who viewed the first two. The media will interpret this as the American people losing interest in the Republican candidates.
2. The moderator, John Harwood, will do his best to make the GOP candidates look foolish and petty. (Harwood's views are such that it is like having Sean Hannity moderate the next Democrat debate.) As a result, the big winner tonight may be the candidate who best puts Harwood in his place.
3. The debate is supposed to focus on the economy. Most likely, more than half of the questions will be about something else.
I'm going to watch anyway.
