Government scientists working at NASA have announced that the likelihood of a magnitude 5.0 earthquake in the greater Los Angeles in the next three years is 99%. The calculation is the result of all sorts of measurements in the region. I won't go into all the measurement methods used by NASA to come up with the basis for the calculation, but we do know that they cost a fortune. Still, the warning provides a much needed warning for Los Angeles.
At least, that is until you find out the following undisputed fact: Without considering the various scientific measurements taken at great expense, the likelihood of a 5.0 magnitude earthquake in Greater Los Angeles in the next three years is just over 85%. Get that? Just from the statistics of past earthquakes, we already knew that it is overwhelmingly likely that there will be a magnitude 5.0 earthquake in LA in the next three years. What a joke. At least the NASA people did not try to blame global warming for the coming earthquake.
