The Media Creates Neo-Nazis

I just read an article about the rise of the German resistance to refugees from the Middle East.  Basically, there are people in Germany who do not want millions of Syrians and other Arabs coming to live in Germany.  The newcomers will get all the social benefits of German citizenship, meaning that these newcomers will get welfare, food, housing and medical allowances that will be paid for by the German state.  In other words, the government will bring in all these new people who will be supported by those who are already in Germany.

According to the article, the German opposition to the newcomers is a far right, neo-Nazi movement.  After all, the Arabs are refugees and the opposition to them is based upon their race and religion.  At least, the article says that opposition is based upon their race and religion, although there seems to be not much proof of that.

I cannot and will not speak for the Germans who either support or oppose the new refugees.  I will, however, speak out against the idiots in the media who decide that any opposition to the acceptance of the refugees must be neo-Nazi in character.  There are plenty of reasons why an average German man or woman would be opposed to the arrival of millions of refugees that have nothing to do with theories of racial supremacy or even the subject of race or religion itself.  It does no one any good to make the dispute into one between Nazi sympathizers and poor downtrodden refugees when that is not the reality.  Those who support the acceptance of refugees will see no reason to discuss the problem with Nazis.  Those who oppose the acceptance of refugees will take offense at having the other side call them Nazis.  The net result will be a lack of communication or civility with the level of hostility rising exponentially.

I guess that the media is just as bad in Germany as it is here in the USA.
