The results of the presidential election in Argentina are in, and there is going to be a runoff between the candidate selected by president Kirchner and the center-right opposition leader. The media claims to be shocked because all indications had been that the Kirchner candidate would win easily. Instead, it is not even clear yet which of the two candidates will end up in first place.
President Kirchner and her husband before her have done much to destroy the Argentine economy during their 12 years in office. The election results are, therefore, not much of a surprise in the scheme of thing. What is more interesting is that the media/pollsters couldn't figure out that the result would be like this.
This is yet another election that proves that the polls and the pundits really are unreliable.
