After yesterday's hearings, the Clinton/Democrat counterattack is underway in full force. So far this morning, I have seen numerous articles explaining how Hillary "stood firm" at the hearings. There are many others stating that nothing new was learned from the testimony. Then there are many which talk about the "lies" being peddled by the Republicans on Benghazi. The problem with all these articles, however, is that they are all BS. Let's look at the facts.
What came out at yesterday's hearing? -- To me, the most important things that we learned yesterday were first that Hillary Clinton paid no attention to the security of American personnel in Libya before the attack. There were about 600 requests for additional security that came from the ambassador's office in Libya to the State Department in Washington. Not only were all those requests denied, but the level of security was actually reduced. All this was done to fit the political narrative that things in Libya had improved and that the al Qaeda forces there had been vanquished. According to Clinton's testimony yesterday she did not see even a single one of these requests for additional security. She was too busy getting advice on Libya from Sidney Blumenthal. Clinton said that she takes responsibility for security of American personnel, but she testified that she was uninvolved and, despite the responsibility being hers, the blame is not.
The second important point that we learned yesterday is that on the day of the Benghazi attack Hillary told Chelsea in an email that the attack had been a terrorist attack by al Qaeda. The next day, Clinton told the leader of Egypt the same thing. Nevertheless, for two weeks after the attack, Clinton kept telling the American people the false story that this was all due to a video. This is the first clear written confirmation that Clinton was telling lies to the American people.
