Etsy and the Redskins

Have you ever heard of Etsy?  It's a website that let's people sell handmade and vintage items.  Basically, it's a lot of junk for sale with a few good things.  This past week, Etsy announced that it would no longer allow the sale of items with the Washington Redskins logo or team name.  It was political correctness run amok and probably a move by Etsy to get some publicity from the liberal media.  Now, the Washington Post is out with a story about what Etsy still allows to be sold.  It's worth taking a look at the story, but, in short, the reporter found items with swastikas on them, Ku Klux Klan knives, blackface dolls and other very, very racist items and a bunch of other items much more demeaning to Native Americans than the name of the Washington Redskins.

The truth is that if this site Etsy is going to censor the items allowed to be sold, then I think that potential purchasers may have a claim against Etsy if their sensibilities are hurt.  After all, wouldn't a reasonable liberal think that all the non-politically correct merchandise had been removed.  How shocking to see a swastika guitar pick or a "smoke a camel jockey" tee shirt.

And by the way, I think that the Dallas Cowboys name is sexist.  What about Cowgirls?  Shouldn't it be the Dallas Cowpeople?  And don't get me started on the Cleveland Browns.  Why should that color be preferred?  Shouldn't it be the Cleveland Rainbows?  And the Cardinals?  Why should Catholics be singled out?
