Two Studies Have Expected Result, But No One Will Care

In the past three days, two separate government studies have been released in which the threat of pollution of ground water from fracking was examined.  For years, the environmentalists and media have propagated the claim that fracking could pollute water supplies.  The oil and gas companies denied any pollution resulted from fracking.  And the yelling and complaining went on and on and on.  Now the two studies have found that there is no evidence to support the claim that fracking could cause contamination of ground water supplies.  Leaks on the surface or mistakes in sealing oil wells could cause problems, but fracking itself has no connection to water pollution.  In other words, the environmentalists were completely wrong and the oil and gas companies were completely correct.

Now comes the likely result of these studies:  NOTHING.  We have known for years that fracking does not pollute water supplies.  These studies just confirm what we all knew already.  Nevertheless, you can be sure that the claims that fracking causes water pollution will continue.  Just think of that failed "Gasland" movie that showed water pollution that it claimed resulted from fracking.  The claim was bogus, but it did not stop the movie from making it.

It would be nice if these studies finally got New York governor Cuomo to lift his ban on fracking in New York.  But they won't.  Too many on the left have bought into fracking as a cause of pollution to be bothered by the actual facts.

Still, after all these years, it's nice to know the truth for certain.
