Remember those videos and pictures of polar bears on ice floes drifting out to sea as the polar ice melted? Polar bears have been the poster children for Global Warming. No less an authority than Al Gore told us that by 2010, the polar ice caps would be gone, melted due to global warming. Today we learned that not only are the ice caps still there, but the ice at the South Pole is now larger than at any time since records were first kept forty years ago.
This is a stunning discovery. There's more ice in the Antarctic than ever before since readings measuring the ice were first taken. And for those who worry about the North Pole, it is worth noting that last winter, there was also more ice in that area than there had been for at least a decade. We have more ice at both poles!
These readings ought to have shaken the Global Warming crowd (the "climate reality deniers") since they put the lie to the basic narrative we were given by the warming industry. Sadly, however, the readings seem to have had no effect. Indeed, can you guess what "scientists" announced as the reason for the record high amount of ice at the South Pole? That's right; the additional ice is due to (fanfare please!) GLOBAL WARMING!!!!! So the true believers have changed their views from (1) additional heat causes polar ice to melt to (2) additional heat causes more polar ice to form. That's right up there with the reversal regarding atmospheric temperatures. For the last 17 years, the actual recorded average temperature around the world has not risen. The Global Warming industry had predicted that those temperature would be rising by a few degrees each decade, but that has simply not happened. No problem. The true believers changed their views from (1) additional heat trapped in the atmosphere due to higher levels of greenhouse gases warms the atmosphere to (2) additional heat trapped in the atmosphere due to higher levels of greenhouse gases does not warm the atmosphere. It makes me wonder. At Al Gore's house, when they want to make ice cubes, do they put the tea kettle on to boil? It sure sounds like it. I wonder how that's working out for them.
This would all be funny if it were not for efforts by president Obama and the EPA to "regulate" greenhouse gases. Obama and the Obamacrats are in the process of killing the coal industry and forcing America to spend tens of billions of dollars each year for electrical energy in order to combat a non-existent threat of Global Warming.
