This Just In...Begich Opposes Obama Plan for ISIS

Democrat senator Mark Begich of Alaska waited a few milliseconds after president Obama finished speaking tonight before announcing his opposition to the arming of the Syrian rebels as proposed by Obama.  If it weren't such a serious subject, this development would be almost poetic justice.  Obama, we all remember, made his mark before becoming president by opposing the War in Iraq.  No matter what happened in that war, Obama was against it because it served his political purposes well.  Now Obama is president and he is asking approval for America to take action to fight against the crazies of ISIS.  Begich is now following the Obama playbook.  He is locked in a close battle for re-election and he is opposing the arming of the Syrian rebels in the hopes that it will help him in that political battle.

Oh how the worm has turned.

The truth, however, is that Begich's stance is likely to hurt him with voters in Alaska.  National polling show that about three quarters of Americans consider ISIS a serious threat to the USA.  If the numbers in Alaska are anything close to that, Begish's opposition to taking steps against ISIS will hurt rather than help with the voters.
