What Are They Waiting For?

Two days ago, I wrote about the terrible military situation for the defenders of Ayn al Arab, a city in Syria that is predominantly Kurdish.  The defenders of that city are under assault by ISIS.  Thousands of Christian and Kurdish refugees have fled across the border into Turkey to escape the massacre expected should ISIS take the city.  The latest from the area is that there is a force of some 3000 ISIS fighters massed on the western edge of the city.

So here is the question of the moment:  What is president Obama waiting for?  Why are no American planes hitting the concentrated ISIS forces near Ayn al Arab?  It ought to be the perfect location for the first US strikes on ISIS in Syria.  Consider these factors:

1.  There is a clear concentration of ISIS forces.  It would not be difficult for American air power to find ISIS troops on the ground and to hit them without fear of civilian casualties.

2.  Those who defend Ayn al Arab are people who merit our assistance.  These are not the Assad forces.  These are not other terrorists.  These are Kurds for the most part with some Syrian Christians and others thrown into the mix.

3.  We do not have to arm those on the ground.  It is too late for that right now.  All we need to do is to strike at ISIS and to use our air power to stop the forward movement of the ISIS forces.  The Kurdish forces on the ground in Syria could most likely hold off ISIS with our help.  Even if we cannot stop ISIS at this location, we can begin the task of destroying ISIS' ability to take additional territory.

4.  Failure of the USA to act will likely result in the loss of Ayn al Arab to ISIS and the resulting murder of thousands of innocents by the terrorist crazies.

So let's ask once again:  WHAT IS OBAMA WAITING FOR???
