Coming Out of Forced Retirement For This?

Remember Anthony Weiner?  He is the former congressman from New York who had to resign after it became known that he liked to tweet and email pictures of his little weiner to woman on the internet despite being married and having a pregnant wife.  Then, when he mistakenly sent the pictures to all of his followers, he falsely claimed that his twitter feed had been hacked and that he was innocent.  On top of that mess, Weiner was a member of the speak now and speak loudly segment of the liberal Democrats.  He was bombastic and (except when he was tweeting pictures of his body parts) he was always on message.  Well, he's back.

Today, Weiner penned a column in which he takes Bernie Sanders to task.  According to the big Weiner, Sanders ought not run for president in the primaries because he is not really a Democrat.  The big Weiner says that when he was still in Congress, he used to get homesick for New York, so he would go over to Bernie Sanders and challenge him about his party affiliation with the result that Sanders would let loose with a New York style broadside that made the big Weiner feel at home.  Sanders, you see, is an independent.

Of course, Weiner's story cannot be accurate for a very simple reason:  Bernie Sanders is the senator from Vermont while Weiner was in the House of Representatives.  There is not much interaction on a daily basis between senators and congressmen.  So Weiner came out of forced retirement for this?

Now you may also know that Weiner's wife is Huma Abedin, one of Hillary Clinton's top two aides along with Cheryl Mills.  That means that there is no way that the big Weiner is writing this piece without the approval of Hillary.  After all, if the Big Weiner were to embarrass the Clinton campaign, his wife and meal ticket might lose her job.  So that means that the Hillary campaign likes the idea of bringing back the big Weiner to take a few jabs (albeit phony jabs) at Bernie Sanders.  It is hard to imagine just how crazy it is for the Clinton folks to use the big Weiner for this purpose.  What will they do next?  Maybe Hillary will get an endorsement from Charles Manson.  Maybe she will bring Dylann Roof in for a photo op.  What are they thinking?

We just spent a year in which the big Weiner had nothing to say in public.  It was nice.  Let's hope that Hillary shuts him up quickly.
